What to expect
Most interventional radiology treatments are day procedures performed under local anaesthetic or light sedation, with a shorter recovery than open surgery.
- Initial consultation and review of your imaging and history
- A clear explanation of options, and whether you're suitable for treatment
- The procedure itself, guided in real time by ultrasound, CT or fluoroscopy
- Recovery and follow-up, with most patients home the same day
For referring doctors
Referral pathway
Referrals are welcome from GPs and specialists across Sydney. Please include relevant imaging, clinical history and the treatment area of interest.
- Send a referral letter with relevant imaging attached
- Cases are triaged and suitability confirmed
- Patient is contacted directly to arrange consultation
- A written report is returned to the referring practitioner
